Anna Hill | Cultural Producer

ANNA HILL

Cultural Producer · Artist · Heritage Researcher

A multi-disciplinary professional, artist, and scholar, making things happen at the intersection of arts, culture, heritage and audience engagement.

About Me

My career spans arts, culture, heritage, media and education across three countries, and in turn I've built a unique skillset uniting creation, production, and scholarship. I've produced events and conferences, short films and live theatre; supported senior leadership; developed and implemented digital engagement strategies; written and researched for manuscripts and publications; consulted on historical media; managed portfolio projects and partnerships; and delivered talks on memory and place.

I'm passionate about identifying new ways to build connection and accessibility through the arts & culture, be it through digital spaces or in-person. My academic research has focused on how audiences connect with heritage and collective memory through the arts.

I'm also a lifelong artist: I studied screenwriting in film school; have published three short fiction pieces; worked across live theatre (producer, assistant director, costumes, props, you name it!); and I'm a lifelong ballet dancer.

I believe culture should be accessible, sustainable, and empathetically engaging. My work bridges the creative vision and the business case, because great art deserves audiences, and great institutions deserve longevity.

What I Do

Heritage & Cultural Programming

Programme Design & Interpretation

Engagement manager for Uncomfortable Oxford, addressing colonial legacies through accessible programming. Researched, scripted, and produced audio interpretation for Hull Minster. Freelance heritage consultant for artists, production companies, and cultural organizations, translating complex histories into compelling visitor experiences.

Media & Engagement

Viral Cultural Storytelling

Drawing on my background in media (researching, writing, producing, and post-production management) to tell cross-cultural stories, especially about heritage, and to find ways to meet audiences where they're at. I've worked on documentaries, short films, commercial and social content. Placement with viral English Heritage series "The Victorian Way"; currently post-production producer with Find the Story, LLC; grew heritage nonprofit's reach by 35-67% across three UK cities.

Production & Event Execution

International Conferences & Events

Produced numerous conferences, fellowship receptions, and fundraising events across the US, England and Northern Ireland, uniting international thought-leaders, facilitating research exchange, and creating access to cultural and educational experiences. Managed logistics, speakers, budgets, marketing, and complex stakeholder relationships. At Drexel University, achieved 95% participant satisfaction.

Creative & Artistic Work

Writing + Producing

Published short fiction writer (3 stories) with forthcoming articles on arts, history and public engagement. Writer-producer of short films and podcast pilots; produced and assistant directed live theater. First development credit: documentary "The Two Lives of Li Ermao." Narrative craft informs all my cultural programming work.

Research

Arts, Heritage & Memory Studies

MA research explored how audiences engage with history through arts and culture. Studies included: Notre-Dame's 2019 fire and collective memory, WWI remembrance through ballet's kinesthetic representation of shell-shock, visitor experience in English country houses, and Stuart artist-poet Anne Killigrew. Dissertation examined how humor shapes cultural memory and historical education: "The Strained Expectation of History."

International Collaboration

Global Cultural Networks

Built international networks across US, UK, Spain and beyond because I believe arts and culture are the way to foster genuine human connection across borders. Coordinator of Education Abroad at Drexel University Global; taught English in Madrid; studied and worked throughout UK. Maintain portfolio of projects that are locally rooted and globally minded.
